I grew up in Alabama and was the youngest girl in a family of eight, all of whom are very supportive. I enjoy college football and am an Alabama football fan. I have two sons. Shane, my oldest is in heaven and my youngest son, Eric lives in Alabama. The 2020/2021 school year marks my 24th year as an educator. For the first nine years, I worked as a speech/language pathologist. My pursuit of a degree in special education was fueled, in part, by my desire to find out how I could help my own son, who was born with Cerebral Palsy. The experiences of being a mother of a child with a disability afforded me invaluable insights that cannot be found in any book.
